Purpose of Practicum
The purpose of this practicum is to prepare better teachers, future teachers who can manage classes, both nationally and internationally. This activity also teaches teacher skills in communicating with students in other countries. This program will help me as a student teacher to expose various types of teaching experiences, as well as teaching skills. Here I also get a lot of new experiences, I get students abroad, even I have friends abroad. I can also know about culture in other countries so that I can respect and appreciate it. I am very happy to learn something new from what I usually see and give me a broader perspective about other countries in ASEAN.
Procedures of Practicum
The procedure of practicum in one month of internship program are doing a lot of activities, are Opening and Welcoming Program, Observation Classroom, Assistant Teaching, Actual Teaching, Lesson Learned Session, Reflection, Completion Rites and Closing Program.
Outcomes of Practicum
This practicum have a lot of advantages for me:
1. My teaching skills is improve
2. This Practice, eeacher has many experiences by teaching the students from another country and the culture of the country
3. This Practice gains more my knowledge regarding the teaching skill and Pedagogy
The Challenge of Practicum
My challenges in this program are:
1. Get to know people from different countries and languages
2. Respecting the religion and culture of other countries
3. Try to communicate fluently with students and staff, because the second language of the Philippines is English.
4. Try to understand the character of students and classes and try to understand the types of methods or models of learning carried out by teachers in the Philippines.
Overall Impression
Overall, what I see from this program is that I can improve my English communication skills and this program can help me in the future.
Suggestion for Future Improvement
I hope that Seameo can continue this program and hope the next batch will get better and better. This expectation also did not escape the assessment of Seameo for participants and continued to monitor the progress of all participants through the school coordinator.
